When you go camping, there are times when it’s nice to relax and do nothing at all. But other times, a few activities keep everyone occupied while they’re off the grid. Below is our top 10 list of things to do:

1. Kick a ball around or play a friendly game of sports

A great way to get everyone involved while having fun is by playing ball sports. Playing a game of soccer, football or any other sport will help you form teams and have it out on the field. The loser then has to cook dinner for all!

2. Go Kayaking

Australia is known for its beaches and water, but camping doesn’t have to be done on the ground. Kayaking rentals can be found in most touristy neighbourhoods with camp sites where you’ll spend hours of entertainment enjoying Australia’s waterscape from a different perspective. If you want to challenge yourself even more try stand-up puddle boarding – guaranteed laughs at everyone’s first attempt!

  1. Bush or Beach walk

If you’re visiting a nearby bush area, make sure to bring along some of these items in case your hike is more adventurous than expected.

  • Water bottle
  • Backpack
  • A compass
  • Long life food such as canned food, protein bars, nut bars
  • Emergency blanket – These are used for cover or to keep your body warm in an emergency
  • Tactical Knife  – You may need to cut cords and other items
  • Ensure you have the correct clothing for the day, if it could get cold at night ensure you take a jacket with you and perhaps long pants
  • Medical Kit, We hope you don’t need to use it but it is better to be safe than sorry

4. Relax. Be present

Relaxing and getting away is what we veterans love the most about camping. There’s a good reason for it too: nothing settles my mind more than taking myself away from working every day life and home. Personally, when I’m at camp early morning sitting in sunlight with no worries on my mind; that’s when creativity comes to me easily as there are fewer distractions around then.

5.Bicycle ride

Grab some bikes and get out there! There are many benefits to biking, such as being able to cover more ground in less time so you can see more of what’s around you while also maintaining a healthy lifestyle due to increased physical activity.

6. Beach day

If you’re near a beach, take advantage of it! Run up and down the sand, play some games like volleyball or soccer. Cool off in the ocean after baking yourself under that sun; don’t forget the below items.

  • Towel
  • Sand-free blanket
  • Sun Glasses
  • Sunblock
  • A book to read
  • Beach umbrella or tent
  • Speakers or headphones
  1. Hire a boat for the day

The weather is nice today – the skies are clear, and there’s a slight breeze. This makes for perfect boating conditions! Explore along this coastline or go fishing at one of these hidden beaches.

  1. Go Fishing

For those of you who like to fish, why not try a summer afternoon on the lake or beach? Fish are more active during this time. You may also have better luck catching them because they tend to go deeper into water when it is hotter outside which increases your chances for success!

9. Cook lunch

Everyone’s favourite part of camping is cooking over a fire. Whether they’re watching the “Master Chef” or helping out, it’s an activity that brings people together and makes everyone happy!
